Cookies & Storage

Version 1.0 (draft) · Effective 13 October 2026

A plain list of the small files Owambe Meter keeps on your device, and why.

1. What this page covers

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies, like browser storage and offline caches, do the same sort of job. This page lists everything Owambe Meter saves on your device.

In short

We use only what is needed to keep you signed in and make the app work. We use no advertising cookies, no analytics trackers, and no cross-site tracking. Because everything is essential, there is no cookie banner to click through.

2. What we save on your device

NameTypeWhat it doesHow long
owambe_sessionCookie, essentialKeeps you signed in and tells our servers which account is making a request. It is HttpOnly (page scripts cannot read it), Secure (sent over HTTPS only), and used only by us.7 days, renewed while you keep using the app
owambe:last-heartbeatBrowser storage, essentialStores the time of the last “I am here” signal so that several open tabs do not send it more often than needed.Until you clear site data
Offline copy of pagesService-worker cache, essentialLets the installed app open its basic screens when you are offline. It stores copies of the app’s pages, not your private data. Requests for your account, messages and uploads are never saved this way.Replaced when the app updates
owambe_admin_sessionCookie, staff onlyUsed only by our staff on the administration site. You will never receive it.12 hours

3. Other companies’ technology

  • Google. The “Continue with Google” button loads a script and style sheet from Google, and only on the sign-in page. Google may set its own cookies or use its own storage when you use it. Google’s privacy policy governs that.
  • Telegram. If you open Owambe Meter inside Telegram, Telegram provides the window and tells us who you are. We do not control Telegram’s own technology.
  • WhatsApp. We open WhatsApp only if you tap share. We do not load anything from WhatsApp on our pages.

4. Your choices

You can delete or block cookies and clear site data in your browser settings at any time. If you remove the session cookie you will be signed out. If you block it entirely, you will not be able to sign in. Browsing the feed will still work. To remove the offline copy, clear the site’s data or uninstall the app from your device.

For how we use personal information more generally, see our Privacy Policy. Questions: privacy@owambemeter.com.

5. If this changes

If we ever add anything that is not essential, such as analytics or advertising, we will update this page and ask for your permission first.
